Thousands of newly released emails show Pruitt — while he was Oklahoma’s Attorney General — collaborating with the oil and natural gas industry to cripple the EPA’s authority. It’s not surprising, but it was a disgusting abuse of his power as Oklahoma Attorney General and representative of a serious conflict of interest.

The damaging information in these emails are coming to light just as we learn that Donald Trump is preparing to sign new executive orders — as soon as this week — to gut President Obama’s Clean Power Plan and Clean Water Rule.

We know that our planet cannot afford any delays in fighting climate change, and that every single person, regardless of race, age, zip code or income, deserves access to clean, safe water.

The Clean Power Plan is our nation’s biggest step ever in the fight to reduce carbon pollution and transition to a clean energy economy.

The Clean Water Rule clarifies pollution protections for our drinking water. Without it, water for 1 in 3 people in this country is at risk.

Trump’s installation of a fossil fuel shill like Pruitt and these new executive orders make it crystal clear that Donald Trump is putting the interests of Big Polluters over the air we breathe and water we drink.

These executive orders are just the start of sweeping attacks designed to drastically diminish the EPA and the work they do to protect our health and the environment. And we MUST call on Congress to investigate Pruitt’s ties to polluters. It is up to ordinary citizens to be the resistance — it is up to us to secure a better planet for future generations.
