He adds\u00a030 kids at risk of gang involvement are now sitting on Wraparound\u2019s wait list instead of getting help.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Doug Elford with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/newtoncommunity\/\">Surrey Newton Community Association<\/a> is welcoming today\u2019s promise from the NDP, saying the Wrap Around program definitely needs more funding.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>\u201cIt is effective,\u201d he says. \u201cI think it has to reach out even farther than it does now. We\u2019re hearing about elementary children being recruited and that is a real concern of ours as well. They need more bodies. They need more staff.\u201d<\/h4>\n<h4>He adds too many kids are still waiting for help.<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of children that slip through the cracks and we\u2019ve got to capture these children before they move on to a life of crime and potentially risking their lives.\u201d<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4>Elford\u00a0adds in the wake of last week\u2019s latest fatal shooting, public safety remains a major concern for most residents of Surrey.<\/h4>\n<h4>29-year-old Birinderjeet Justin Bhangu was shot to death in broad daylight in the parking lot of a Comfort Inn.
