All along, Palmer Report has expected Donald Trump to lose the 2020 election. Accordingly, we\u2019ve expected President Biden to place harsh sanctions on Russia for its ongoing attempts at election interference, and that those sanctions would significantly weaken Putin\u2019s power structure within the Russian oligarchy.<\/h4>\n

But in a twist we weren\u2019t expecting \u2013 at least not this soon \u2013 Putin is now floating the notion that he might retire from the Russian presidency next year, citing \u201chealth issues.\u201d Here\u2019s the kicker: this story is coming from The Sun, and being amplified by the New York Post, a pair of Rupert Murdoch owned publications where you\u2019d expect Putin to plant a story like this.<\/h4>\n

Notably, Putin is also floating the idea of changing Russian law on his way out the door that would make him immune from future prosecution \u2013 which suggests that he\u2019s afraid some future Russian president might try to prosecute him for his Ukraine-related crimes or financial crimes, in an attempt at getting Russia back into the good graces of the world community.<\/h4>\n

This doesn\u2019t necessarily mean that Putin is indeed planning to retire. But the timing can\u2019t be ignored. We\u2019re now just hours away from Donald Trump being named the loser of the election, and now Putin is immediately telling the world that he might retire soon. Putin seems to be laying the groundwork for a soft exit, in case President Biden squeezes him severely enough that he ends up needing it. These are interesting times.<\/h4>\n
